Data
Vault
At some point it may be necessary to move your Spector 360 Databases to a new or larger network server. Take the following steps.
To move the entire Data Vault / Database:
Use the Dashboard to perform a Full Backup of the STORAGE databases before you begin.
STOP your existing Data Vault service so that any Client data recorded between the Full Backup and the Restore to the new machine will not be pushed to the old Data Vault and lost in the obsolete database.
Use the Spector 360 Setup program to install the components you want on the new computer. You can install Microsoft SQL Server, the Spector 360 Databases, the Data Vault Server, and a Dashboard on the new computer. Test your new database installation with existing Dashboard installations to make sure all connections are working on the network.
Copy the Full Backup folder to the new computer's hard drive.
Use the Dashboard (Backup and Restore Management) to restore the backup, using the Browse for folder feature to find the backup on the hard drive if it is not visible in the Backup and Restore Management window.
Establish Windows share names for the File Storage folders on the new computer, if you are using a share scheme for email attachments and screen snapshots.
Reconfigure the Control Center for the new Data Vault location. Use the Control Center Properties to MOVE the Data Vault to the new computer location. Test the Data Vault service and make sure it is connected to the new, correct database instance.
Reconfigure the Clients for the new
Data Vault location, then re-initialize the Clients.
The Client's Server Settings must match settings
at the Control Center

Uninstall the old Data Vault / Database.
