Document Tracking

The Client

The Client tracks document activity at local computers and on the network. Until you change the Document Tracking settings, the Client focuses on recording printing and document activity that involves a CD drive or removable media. Document Tracking allows you to determine who, when and what is happening to sensitive documents and how resources are being used.

Document Tracking allows you to find out:

Who copied, deleted, or modified an important network document
If there has been movement of confidential documents
Whether intellectual property theft is occurring
How print resources are being used

The Client recording captures:

Date and time of the activity
Computer where the activity took place
User logged in
Program used for the activity
Action involved: Print, Write, Delete, Create, or Rename
Device type: Printer, Network, Removable, Local, CDROM, Other, or Unknown
Device name and path (e.g., \\SERVER10\LaserJet Printer 2nd Floor)
File involved: full path of the source file, file name, file extension, and file size
