Program Activity Recording

The Client

The Client records information about every program and every program window opened by a user, every day. The Client records programs that create a visible window on the monitored computer; it will not record programs that run in the background or are indicated by an icon in the notification area unless the user opens a window to the program.

Program Activity recording reveals:

How much time employees are actively using productivity programs
Which productivity programs users prefer
How much time users are wasting on games or frivolous programs
Whether programs not purchased by your organization are being used

For each program event, the Client records:

Date and time the program window was opened
Title of the program window
Name of the program
Windows user who executed the program
Total time the program was open
Time the program had focus
Time keyboard and mouse activity were taking place
When and how many times the program was opened during a day

App-V Applications
If you deploy applications through Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V), formerly SoftGrid, make sure you enable App-V Support on the Client. This allows the Client to record activity on these applications. The option to enable App-V support is provided in the Deployment Utility on the final Build Installation File panel.
