Data
Vault
You can check the status of and control Data Vault settings from the Control Center Properties. Right-click the Control Center, select Properties, and then click on the Data Vault tab. Remember, one Control Center controls one Data Vault Service and one Database location.
To view or change Data Vault Server properties:
The top of the Data Vault Properties panel allows you to move the Data Vault Server, change the IP port on which it listens for Clients, stop the service, or view the Data Vault Server log.

Computer Name - Computer where the Data Vault Service is installed.
Move - Remove the Data Vault Service and install it on another computer.
Listen IP Port - The IP Port where the Data Vault listens for data from the Clients. Change this port only if there is a conflict on your network. If you change the port here, you will need to reinitialize the Clients with new Server Communication settings.
Set Credentials - Click this button to verify or change the credentials under which the Data Vault service runs. This allows you to change the credentials set during installation of the service. More...
Start Svr / Stop Svr - Start and stop the Data Vault Windows service. If the service is stopped, the Start Svr button is active. If the service is running, the Stop Svr button is active. This action is the same as stopping the service from the Windows Service Manager or from the Data Vault Administration window. When the service is stopped, Client data cannot be delivered to the Data Vault and remains on the local Client until the service is restarted.
Log
Detail Level - Select the detail level for logging Data Vault activity:
Low - Less activity is recorded, resulting in a smaller log
file.
Normal - The default level of activity is recorded.
Debug - Use when SpectorSoft Technical Support requests more
information.
View Server Log - Displays the Data Vault log file. This information may be requested by SpectorSoft technical support for diagnostic purposes.
Show Server Tray Icon - Mark this checkbox to display the Data Vault icon representing the Data Vault service in the Windows notification area (lower right area of the taskbar).
To view or change Database Storage properties:
The middle portion of the Data Vault tab under Control Center Properties allows you to configure the Database storage.

Server Type - The type MS SQL Server cannot be changed.
Set DB Server Acct Info - Click this button to verify or change the Windows credentials under which the Database (SQL Server) service runs. These credentials must have read/write access to the File Storage location where Screen Snapshot and Email Attachments are stored. The default File Storage Location is C:\Spector360Data. More...
Server - The Spector 360 SQL Server instance this Control Center manages: computer\SPECTOR360. Click the ... button to open a box where you can change the SQL Server instance (the database) being used. The drop-down list displays all instances where the Spector 360 SQL Server component has been installed. When you change the SQL Server instance, the Data Vault service will begin to populate the newly selected database with recorded data.

When you change the Server, Dashboard users will not be able to aggregate
data from the older Server location with newly recorded data. To maintain
data from a previous SQL Server instance, you must (a)
stop the Data Vault service (b) create a backup of the database at the
existing server (c) restore the data at the new server location, and (d)
restart the Data Vault service. Remember, a Control
Center can manage only one Data Vault service and one database.
DB
Connect Account Info - This field indicates how the SQL Server
service connects to the Spector 360 database (currently the same as the
Data Vault Server credentials above).
LocalSystem and Windows - The service currently uses the Windows
local system account.
DOMAIN\user and Windows
- The service currently uses a Windows network account.
Username and Database
- The service currently uses SQL Server credentials to access the database.
Click the ... button to change the type of account used by the service.

Base Path - The path where the File Storage folders are located as set during setup. By default the path is C:\Spector360Data. Click the ... button to open a box where you can set a new File Storage location. The Database service will need access to this location in order to store Screen Snapshots and Email Attachments at this location.
Combine User Recordings Across Computers - Check this box to store recordings from all user accounts with the same name in one user data set. For example, COMPUTER1/JOHN, COMPUTER2/JOHN, and NETWORK1/JOHN would be combined into <combined>/JOHN instead of three different "users." Clear this option to store data from all logins separately.
To view or change Snapshot/Attachment Encryption:
At the bottom of the Data Vault properties tab, you can choose to encrypt the data the Data Server passes to the File Storage system. Encryption makes it impossible to open or view the files without using the Dashboard.

Encryption Type: Snapshots - For Screen Snapshot files, choose from None (no encryption), Internal (a SpectorSoft encryption), or 3DES (a standard, secure encryption format).
Encryption Type: Attachments - For Email Attachments, choose between None (no encryption) and 3DES (a standard, secure encryption format).
To view the Data Vault version:
The currently installed version of the Data Vault is displayed at the bottom of the Data Vault Properties panel.
