Spector 360for Networks was designed for a domain network environment, with at least one Windows Domain Controller to validate a user's administrative privileges. A managed domain network is already configured for centralized management. After installing the Spector 360 components, you will be able to install Client Recorders from the Control Center.
Required. The Control Center user must have Local Administrator privileges on each computer in order to control the remote Client computers. Any Clients, in turn, must be able to authenticate that the Control Center has Local Administrator privileges before it allows control. If you are logged on as a Domain Administrator, you will have control, as set by Domain Group Policy, over all aspects of the Client Recorder installation and administration.
Optional. Spector 360 can also use pre-configured Domain Security Groups to limit a user's Control Center access. Use these groups to restrict Control Center users from accessing some Control Center functionality. This option will not function for a Workgroup network.
To enable domain group privileges:
Open Active Directory Users and Computers on the Domain controller.
Define domain groups giving them the
following exact names:
Spector CNE Admins - Access all functions
Spector CNE Managers - Access only Manage Computers functions
Spector CNE Configurers - Access only Configure
Computers functions
PowerUsers - Contains all the above groups.
Assign Admins, Managers, Configurers to the PowerUsers group.
Assign user domain login accounts to the domain groups as desired.
Set up the PowerUsers group as an Administrator user on all Client computers. This is necessary for users in any of these groups to have appropriate access.
In the Control Center, right-click Control Center in the left pane, and select Properties. Click the Security tab. Check the option to Enable Privileges for Domain Groups.

Other Networks: Spector 360 acts on a Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Server network as it would on a Windows Domain Network. Without a domain name server, Spector 360 behaves as if it were in a Windows Workgroup environment. |
