This version of Spector 360 requires .NET Framework version 2.0. If a message appears telling you .NET cannot be found or needs to be upgraded, exit the Spector 360 Setup and search for the free Microsoft .NET download on the Internet. It takes only a few moments to download and install. |
Choose components to install.
The first panel prompts you either to Install or Reinstall the Server
Components. The Spector 360 Setup program will install each component,
one after the other.
|

Start with a complete installation of ALL Server Components. If you do not expect database size issues, we recommend accepting the default option and installing ALL components on one "Administrator" station. This computer will become the repository for all recorded activity and provide a single location from which to configure and manage the Spector 360 installation. |

Check this option to install all components. During the Setup procedure, you will be able to direct installation of the components to other computers. For a complete deployment, ALL components must be installed and accessible on the network. If you are using Setup to add or reinstall specific components, clear the "All" option and select the components you wish to install. For example, selections in the illustration below would install only the Data Vault Server and a Control Center.
The Dashboard lets you query and display data from recorded computers in charts and reports. It also allows you to manage the Spector 360 Database. You should install a Dashboard on the same computer where you install the Database. More about component requirements...
Server Components include the Database and all service components. Select this option to select all these components, and clear this option to select individual Server Components.
The Database stores all data used by Spector 360. This installation includes Microsoft SQL Server and the Spector 360 databases. Make sure you have ample disk space to install this component. More about Database size requirements...
The Primary Server is a Windows service that manages Client licensing.
The Data Vault is a Windows Service that receives Client recordings and processes them for storage in the Database.
The Control Center is an application (and Windows Service) that allows you to configure and manage Client installations and server component communications.
The Web Filter Server is a Windows service that allows automatic, centralized web filtering policy from the Dashboard.

Installation Notes are available to help you install and deploy Spector 360. Click the button to display and print the notes.

Read the license agreement, and if you agree to the terms, click Yes to accept them.
Enter
your serial number.
If you are updating Spector 360, the serial number is provided. Otherwise,
you'll find your Spector 360 serial number in your Spector 360 purchase
confirmation email. Copy the serial number from the email (Ctrl+C)
and paste it (Ctrl+V) into the form. If you are typing
the serial number, be aware that all characters are numeric, except the
5th and 6th characters, which are letters.
Click OK to continue.

SQL Server Database instance. If you are installing over a previous version

Uppercase letters
Lowercase letters
Numbers

Click Next to continue.
Select Local System or Network account.
The Setup program installs many of the Server Components as Windows
services, which require the credentials to access other components (such
as the Database). You can choose to use:
The Local System account - adequate when all components reside on one computer, or
A Network account - necessary when components are distributed across the network. Read Network vs. Local Service Credentials.
The Control Center ALWAYS uses the Network account credentials
for a Domain Administrator, or for an Administrator-level account defined
on each Client computer. This gives the Control Center access to all Clients.

Make your selections and click Next.
