There are two main steps to a Spector 360 deployment: (1) Install the Server Components and (2) Install the Clients.
Step 1: Install Server Components
First, install the Server Components (Windows services and applications) at a central computer. Be sure to register your serial number and unlock Spector 360 during or following installation of these components.

Data Vault Server
Control Center Server / application

If you are new to Spector 360, we recommend installing all servers on a single computer. It doesn't have to be an actual "server," just a computer on the network with plenty of free disk space. See How Spector 360 Works. |
Step 2: Install the Client on network computers
After installing the Server Components, you will use the Control Center (a Server Component application) to list your network computers and deploy the Client to the computers you wish to record. The Client is a hidden program that records all activity on a computer. Once the Client is installed and recording, you will be able to use the Dashboard to monitor activity on the computers.

For successful installation of the Client, you may need to adjust your endpoint antivirus software settings. See Configuring Antivirus to Ignore Spector 360. |
A successful deployment requires the following elements.
Windows
Network
All computers should have TCP/IP Network connection
and a Windows operating
system. Spector 360 is designed for a Windows
Domain Network, but will also work on a Windows Workgroup, Novell,
Citrix, or Windows Terminal Server setup. See Server
Components and the Network.
The
"Server Components" Computer
Install ALL the Spector 360 on a single computer (if
possible) with
An up-to-date Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows Vista, XP Professional, or 2000 operating system
At least 100 GB free space, see Estimating the Database Size
Connection to the Internet for downloads during installation
A static IP address
Click here for more information about system requirements.
Serial
Number
When you purchased Spector 360, SpectorSoft sent a serial
number to the email address specified at time of purchase. During the
installation you will register the serial
number via an Internet connection to SpectorSoft. SpectorSoft will verify
the serial number and email an Unlock Code for the number of licenses
you have purchased.
Administrator
Account
You will be asked for account credentials during Server Component Setup
and Client installation. Be ready to supply the user name and password
for a Domain Administrator account, or an account with administrator user
privileges on each computer where you will install the Client. See Client
Recorders and the Network to learn more about requirements for remote
Client installation and management.
Dashboards
Installed for Reviewing Recorded Data
Create a Login Account for each person who will use the Dashboard.
Use the Spector 360 Setup program to install ONLY the Dashboard each user's
computer.
Working
Dashboard - Database Connections
Run the Dashboard to test its connection to the Database. If you
are upgrading Spector 360 or migrating from Spector CNE, make sure you
have restored or imported your previous data before installing new Clients.
Appropriately
Shared File Storage Folder
If you wish, for security Share
the File Storage folder (default is C:\Spector360Data) exclusively
for Dashboard Users.
Adjustments
to Antivirus Software
Configure the endpoint antivirus installed on your network to exclude
the SpectorSoft Client signature or "whitelist"
the Client installation files in order to avoid detection and possible
removal of the Client. See Configuring
Antivirus to Ignore Spector 360.
