Spector CNE relies on several software components: A set of Server Components installed at a central computer, a Viewer to view recordings, and a Client Recorder installed on each network computer. The Server Components include:
(a) Primary Server
(b) Data Vault
(c) Control Center

Note: You can install the Client Recorder on one computer for each client license purchased.
Installed on a centralized computer as part of the Server Components, the Primary Server provides licenses and software updates to Clients. Spector CNE will not work properly until the Client computers are communicating with the Primary Server. Use the Control Center to monitor and set properties for the Primary Server. See the Spector CNE Administrator's Guide.
A Server Component, the Data Vault includes a Windows service that receives and processes data recorded by Clients as well as the file storage and archive system. The recorded files stored in Data Vault folders are encrypted and cannot be read without a Viewer. Use the Control Center to monitor and set properties for the Data Vault. See the Spector CNE Administrator's Guide.
Note: You can install the Data Viewer on multiple computers. There is an option to install a Viewer with the Client on network computers. The Viewer in this case can be hidden from the user, and can be opened only with a "Hot Key" combination and password.
A Server Component, the Control Center allows an administrator to remotely install and configure the Client Recorder. Track the Client installation status and update settings as needed, such as how often screens are captured in snapshots, which web sites are blocked, and which keywords set off alerts. See the Spector CNE Administrator's Guide for instructions on using the Control Center.
The Client Recorder is a hidden program on each user's PC that records all activity and automatically uploads the recordings to the Data Vault. The Spector CNE Administrator's Guide provides complete instructions for installing and configuring the Client.
Installed automatically with the Control Center or as a standalone component, the Data Viewer is the only way to access and view the Client recordings. From the Control Center, the Viewer opens when you double-click a user in the Monitor Users view or a computer in the Monitor Computers view. A standalone Viewer installed anywhere on the network allows various managers to oversee their areas of responsibility. The Viewer is fully described in the Spector CNE Administrator's Guide.
