Uninstalling CNE Components

The Spector CNE Setup provides an Uninstall feature that allows you to remove one or all of the Server Components. You must have the same Administrator permissions to uninstall as to install.  If you are completely removing Spector CNE, be sure to uninstall the Clients first. Follow instructions in the Spector CNE Administrator's Guide.

You should NOT remove the Spector CNE Server Components if Spector Clients are still installed (unless you plan to shortly reinstall the Server Components). Without the Control Center you can't uninstall the Clients remotely. Without the spuninst.exe file (located in the c:\Program Files\SpectorSoft\Spector CNE\ folder), you will not be able to manually remove the Spector Clients.

To remove Server Components from a computer:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs, Spector CNE, and Uninstall Spector CNE.

  2. The Setup wizard starts. You can choose to uninstall all components, or deselect All Components and select only the components you wish to remove. Click Next to continue.

Note: You cannot uninstall the Data Viewer and leave the Control Center installed; the Control Center requires a Data Viewer.

If you plan to move the Primary Server or Data Vault, do so through the Control Center interface. Without a Primary Server or Data Vault, Spector CNE will not work properly. If you reinstall the Primary Server, you will have to reregister your Spector CNE Serial Number with SpectorSoft. See Registering.

  1. A message warns you, if you have selected to uninstall the Primary Server, Data Vault, or Control Center. If you want to save your Control Center configuration files (.ini for Client settings, .sds for Client Install build files, and .xml for Network Configuration files) clear the check mark. Leave the option checked to remove all Control Center files. Click Next.

  2. Wait as components are removed.

  3. When prompted, click Finish and restart your computer.
