SpectorSoft will notify the contact at your organization of Spector CNE updates via email. It is not necessary to remove the Spector Server components. You can install the upgrade over your existing Server Components, or you can install on a new computer. Keep in mind that your serial number allows only one Primary Server to be installed. The Setup program will prompt you to install all components detected on the current computer. To complete the upgrade, you will need to "push" (install) new Clients.
To check your Spector CNE version:
Open the Control Center and select Help > About Spector Corporate Network Edition. The version number for the current installation is provided in the About box.
For a minor update, all you need is your current SpectorSoft product serial number. There are several ways to access an update.
To access the update file:
Go to the SpectorSoft Downloads
web page.

Acquire an installation CD-ROM. Call or email SpectorSoft Customer Support.
If you are downloading the update:
At the SpectorSoft download page, enter your serial number. You have several choices for downloading:
Click the Download button and select Run at the prompt to download the Setup file begin installing immediately.
Click the Download button and select Save at the prompt to download the Setup file and install later, or at a different computer.
The download page or Installation Notes may provide additional instructions for installation. In general, follow these steps to update your SpectorSoft network product.
To update existing Server Components:
Start the Setup
program.
Setup detects installation of current Spector CNE components and asks
if you would like to install over the existing components.

Choose Yes.
The Setup program begins.
Click OK
to accept the serial number.
If you are moving the Server Components to a new computer, you may
need to enter and re-register your serial number.
You may be prompted to download files from the Internet. Make sure the computer is connected to the Internet. Click Next.
Select components to install. Updated
components will be installed over existing components. You do not have
to re-register if you did not uninstall the Primary Server. Check the
Installation Notes if you have
any questions about the version you are installing.

You can have multiple installations of a component on your network. However, you may have only one Primary Server per serial number, and only the number of Clients for which you are currently licensed. |
To deploy the update, you must "push" the new Client so that Client recordings will be sent to the updated CNE Data Vault.
To reinstall Clients:
Open the Control Center and select Manage Computers.
Follow instructions in Installing
the Client.
If a message appears telling you that Spector is already installed
on a computer, click Yes and proceed
with the installation. Your previous Client Install (spsetup_Settings.sds)
file should be available to select for installation, or you can use the
default spsetup_Settings.sds
file. If you wish, use the Deployment
Utility to build a Client install file with new settings.
