There are several important steps involved in getting Spector Pro working for you:
Install the program - Perform a Standard installation on each computer you are going to monitor.
|
|
You must have a license for each computer that you are monitoring. You do not need to purchase an additional license for a computer being used as Viewer only. |
Get acquainted with the Viewer - Become familiar with the Viewer so that you understand the relationship between the Settings and what you will ultimately see when viewing recorded events. There are a few settings that you might want to adjust in the beginning. These are described in steps 3 through 5.
Decide who, what and when to record - You can determine which users to monitor, when recording will take place, which programs to include in the recording, and what types of activities to capture.
Decide whether you want to block specific web sites, applications, or chat / IM contacts - You can start out by blocking certain web sites if you want to, or you can block them later, as needed.
Set up a keyword list - Keywords are words or phrases that you want Spector Pro to detect and take specific action on, whether they occur in an email message, chat / IM conversation, web site address, web site page, or keystrokes typed anywhere on the computer.
Check security settings - If you did not select a password or a new hotkey sequence during installation, or if you want to alter any of your security choices, you may do so at any time.
Begin recording - Before you can begin recording, you must close the Viewer.
Once you have begun recording computer and Internet activity:
View All Recordings, Top 10 Reports and MySpace Activities - When you are ready, access the Viewer and take a look at the recorded events.
Manage data - At any time you may want to manage the accumulated data by adjusting data file settings, backing up or retrieving data files, deleting data files, or adjusting security options such as the hotkey sequence, password, or mode of operation.
Review and adjust the settings - The settings affect what the program records and therefore, what you are able to see on the Viewer. Spector Pro settings are very flexible and are easily customized to suit your needs.
You have completed the Introduction browse sequence.
