In this topic: Amount of Space Allocated |
You do not have to worry about Spector Pro exceeding the maximum disk storage space configured in the Data File Settings window, as Spector Pro manages this for you. Spector Pro automatically deletes recordings when the disk space required exceeds the number of megabytes specified in Maximum Data Size, both for snapshots and other data files.
How much disk storage space should you allocate (Maximum Data Size) for snapshots and for all the other recorded data? The amount of disk storage space allocated in Maximum Data Size depends on various settings as described below, as well as how you plan to use Spector Pro. For example, you may need to increase the space allocated in Maximum Data Size for data files if you capture information from more than one PC, or if recording will occur for many hours during the day.
You may need to increase the amount of disk storage space if you:
Want to keep more than 30 days of data (Delete Data After . . . Days) before the file is deleted.
Choose to take snapshots more frequently than once every 30 seconds (Take snapshots every . . . seconds). For example, if Spector Pro takes a snapshot once every 10 seconds, you should expect to use about three times as much disk space as compared to Spector Pro taking a snapshot once every 30 seconds.
Choose to take snapshots in color (Snapshot Format).
Select a lot of Snapshot Triggers.
Record users who have a second monitor (Include Secondary Monitor).
Spector Pro provides a way for you to monitor the average daily usage of disk storage space for snapshots.
You may need to increase the amount of disk storage space if you:
Choose to store email attachments (Capture Attachments).
Choose to increase the maximum size of email attachments (Maximum Attachment Size).
You may need to increase the amount of disk storage space if you want to keep more than 45 days of data (Delete Data After . . . Days) before the file is deleted.
