Most of the time, you will not need to save recorded events. But there may be times when you want to share this information with others, or retain specific recorded events for future reference. Because these files are commonly saved in txt file format, they can be printed or forwarded via email to all concerned.
Saving one or several recorded events is a much more targeted action than backing up entire data files, which contain many events. In addition, saved events can be viewed in a .txt file format, while backed up files can only be viewed on the Spector Pro Viewer after being reloaded.
For information on saving screen snapshots, see Saving Recorded Snapshots. For information on backing up data files, see Backing Up and Retrieving Data Files.
After viewing your daughter's emails, you are concerned about the content of several of them. To share this with your wife, you save one or two events in a txt file, send them as an attachment to her at work, and wait for feedback.
To save recorded events:
Open an event window in the Viewer and click to select the information you want to save.
All Recordings Windows (Online Searches / Web Sites Visited / Files Transferred / Program Activity / User Activity / Keywords Detected / Network Activity / Document Tracking)
If the event window has a Navigate pane in the upper part of the window and one or more lower panes, you can save the information that appears in lower pane.
As in the picture above (in this case Web Sites Visited) navigate to a particular level in the upper pane and click to select a date, domain or subdomain; then click the appropriate tab in the lower pane to show either detail or summary information.
To save the entire lower pane, do not select any particular event in the lower pane and in step 2 below select File > Save As.
To save one event in the lower pane, click on it and in step 2 below select File > Save As.
To save multiple events, use the Shift or Ctrl keys depending on whether the events are contiguous (adjacent) or not and in step 2 below select File > Save As.
A file is created which indicates whether the captured data is from the Summary or Detail pane, along with date, domain, and the contents of the lower pane (either selected items or the entire lower pane).
All Recordings Windows (Chat-IM / Email / Keystrokes Typed)
This type of event window has an upper Event pane and a lower Content pane. You can save the information that appears in either one.
To save the content for one event:
Double-click on the event in the upper pane. A Content window opens, as shown below (in this case Keystrokes Typed). In step 2 below click the Save As button. A file is created which contains the Program, Date and Title just as they appear here, along with the content as it appears here.

OR click to select one event in the upper pane and in step 2 below select File > Save As > Item. A file is created which contains the Program, Date and Title, along with the content.
To save the list of events in the upper pane select Edit > Select All from the menu bar. In step 2 below select File > Save As > List. A file is created that looks just like the upper pane.
To save part of the list, select one or more items in the upper pane. In step 2 below select File > Save As > List. A file is created that looks like part of the upper pane.
In a Top 10 window you can save one or more events in the list.
To save the entire window, select Edit > Select All and in step 2 below select File > Save As.
To save one event, click on it and in step 2 below select File > Save As. A file is created with the title Top 10 Programs, along with the content as shown below.
To save multiple events, use the Shift or Ctrl keys depending on whether the events are contiguous (adjacent) or not, and in step 2 below select File > Save As. A file is created with the title Top 10 Programs, along with the content as shown below.
With this type of window, you can double-click on an event, and Spector Pro takes you to the All Recordings event window for that activity. From there you can save more detailed information as described in the All Recordings Windows.
For information on saving Screen Snapshots (including snapshots within the MySpace tab, seeSaving Snapshots.
Select Window > Save As, Window > Save As > Item, Window > Save As > List from the menu bar, OR click the Save As button in a Content window. The Save As window opens.
Navigate to the folder in which you want to store the information.
Type a name in the File name field.
Select the appropriate file Type and click Save. The information is saved. Different file types are available, depending on the window and the pane. See the table below.
