Files Transferred Settings

Spector Pro records the exchange of information between computers via HTTP upload or download, FTP upload or download, or Peer-to-Peer (P2P). See Viewing Files Transferred.

Use files transferred settings to:

Turn files transferred recording on and off.

Indicate whether or not to capture files uploaded from your computer via the HTTP protocol.

Adjust Gnutella and FTP port settings, if necessary.

Accessing Files Transferred

To access the Files Transferred pane:

  1. Open the Settings window.

  2. Locate Files Transferred under Recording in the Navigate pane at left.

  3. Click to open the Files Transferred pane. This pane contains:

Review the settings to be sure they reflect how you want to manage files transferred activity.

Customizing Files Transferred Settings

Close all applications that are running and log off all users to ensure that new settings affect these applications and users.

To select recording options:

  1. Capture Files Transferred -  By default, this box is checked to enable the recording of files transferred.

  2. Click OK to save the changes you have made, or Cancel to discard them. The Settings window closes.

 

To change advanced settings:

Under normal circumstances, you will not need to change advanced settings. SpectorSoft advises that only advanced users change these settings, as this could affect the Spector Pro's ability to reliably capture data.

  1. Click Advanced to open the Advanced Files Transferred Settings window. A warning appears reminding you that changing the advanced settings could have an adverse effect on Spector Pro's ability to record. Click Yes to proceed. The Advanced Email Settings window opens.

  1. Gnutella Ports - These are the ports commonly used for Gnutella activity. It is possible that the server is configured to use non-standard ports. If this occurs you need to change these ports to conform to the server.

  2. FTP Ports - This is the port commonly used for FTP activity. It is possible that the server is configured to use a non-standard port. If this occurs you need to change this port to conform to the server.

  3. Capture HTTP Uploads - This allows you to select whether or not to capture files uploaded from your computer via the HTTP protocol. The default is to capture it.

  4. Click OK to accept the changes you have made, or Cancel to reject them. The Advanced Files Transferred Settings window closes.

  5. Click OK to save the changes you have made, or Cancel to discard the changes. The Settings window closes.
