How Are Activity Reports and Forwarded Emails Sent?

All eBlaster Activity Reports and forwarded emails must be communicated through the Internet for delivery to your email address.

The Default Setting

To avoid the complexities of requiring you to configure the correct settings for transferring email over the Internet, SpectorSoft provides communications servers for its eBlaster customers and pre-configures the eBlaster installation to use these servers. Unless changed by you, eBlaster will communicate all Activity Reports and forwarded email through the communications servers hosted by SpectorSoft and deliver the Activity Reports and forwarded email to your configured email address.

Using STMP to Send

If you would prefer to use the SMTP mail server provided by your ISP or if you are in a corporate environment that uses Microsoft Exchange, you can configure your own server using the “Custom Server” configuration. If you are familiar with the proper SMTP server settings for your ISP, SpectorSoft encourages you to configure your own server settings. This may improve the delivery time of your Activity Reports and forwarded email.

Security

All Activity Reports and forwarded email are delivered through the Internet using the industry standard SMTP  whether the SpectorSoft server or your custom server is configured for email delivery. Like all email transferred via the Internet, it is not encrypted and could be open to interception or snooping. We believe the chances of any specific person's email being specifically compromised is extremely unlikely and we have heard of very few incidences of this occurring on the Internet. In addition, SpectorSoft is very similar to your ISP in that the email is transferred through SpectorSoft servers, but the information is only handled by SpectorSoft for a very brief period of time before it is forwarded to your email address and it is not archived by SpectorSoft.
