The Keystrokes Typed Summary lists all keystrokes typed on the computer for a specific Windows user during the report time frame. The recorded keystrokes are sorted, starting with the earliest, by the Start Time of the application.
Show me a typical Keystroke Typed Summary.
Using Extended Keystrokes If this record option is selected, eBlaster will record "Extended Keystrokes" such as CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, ENTER, SPACE, BACKSPACE, etc. keys, which will appear on the report as in the following examples: <Right Shift>Phil <Backspace>, <Backspace> <Backspace> <Backspace> <Backspace>, <Right Shift>Bugzilla, <Right Shift>Enr, <Backspace> <Backspace>t, <Backspace>ntries, <Tab> <Right Shift>Hey, <Right Shift>Phil, <Enter> <Enter>, <Ctrl> <Alt> <Shift>.
In the illustration above, a user launched Internet Explorer (Application & Start Time), the default page opened to Welcome to MSN.COM - Microsoft Internet Explorer (Caption) and finally the user typed Money (Actual typed keystrokes) in the Search the Web text box.
Application The Application column lists the name of the Windows application that was active when the keystrokes were typed. An attempt is made to list the actual program name (MS Word) unless it is unknown to SpectorSoft, in which case the name of the program .EXE (Executable) is listed.
Start Time The Start Time column lists the time the first keystroke was typed for the Application during the time frame for this report. It does not have any implication of when or how long the remainder of the keystrokes were typed.
Caption Title of the active Window in which the keystroke was typed.
Actual keystrokes typed Shown in the row below Start Time. The keystrokes are listed in the chronological order they were typed in the Application.
Notes:
· The display format of the
keystrokes in the Activity Report may not be an accurate reflection of
how they are displayed in an Application.
The report can not show
the context in which the keystrokes were typed. It is possible that consecutive
keystrokes displayed in the Activity Report could have been typed in two
completely different Application windows
if the user had simply selected different windows with his mouse between
typing the two keystrokes.
· The common use of the backspace
key by most Windows users while they are typing, will be very obvious
when viewing the Keystrokes Typed. You will notice a frequency of misspelled
words because the formatting of the Backspace key is not displayed in
the Activity Report.
· If
there was more than one user during the report time frame, each user will
have a Keystrokes Typed Summary.
