Introduction
It's important to understand how the Spector CNE Components work together before you begin using the system. All components together comprise your Spector CNE installation. Spector Corporate Network Edition relies on:
Server Components: A Control Center, Data Vault, and Primary Server installed on a central "server" computer (or computers)
Client Recorder: Software installed on each user's computer to record activity
Viewer: Installed with the Control Center and as a standalone application on one or more manager's computers for viewing, analyzing, and reporting on activity
The Server Components are the Control Center, Data Vault, and Primary Server. These are usually installed together on a central Administrator Station (the server) that is always on and has a static IP address. The Server Components handle data, track licensing, and allow you to manage your Spector CNE installation.
The Primary Server handles licensing and updates. Installed on a centralized computer as a Windows Service, the Primary Server assigns each Client a license. Each Client Recorder must connect to the Primary Server in order to operate properly. The Primary Server appears as an icon in the Windows notification area. More...
The Control Center is the heart of Spector CNE. It allows you to configure, install, and manage the Clients and Client recording. The Control Center also provides a Viewer for monitoring recordings. From the Control Center, you can manage the Data Vault and Primary Server settings and status. Open the Control Center from Windows Start > Spector CNE > Control Center. This Administrator's Guide provides instructions for using the Control Center. More...
Manage and Configure Clients Using the Control Center

The Data Vault is the repository for recorded data from Clients. Installed on a centralized computer, the Data Vault includes a Windows service and File Storage folders for user/computer recordings, email attachments and screen snapshots. The Data Vault service receives Client recordings from remote computers and inserts them in File Storage folders. The Data Vault service appears as an icon in the Windows notification area.
An undetectable program on each user's PC, the Client
records activity, enforces Internet blocking and keyword alerts, and automatically
uploads recordings to the Data Vault service. Use
this Administrator Guide for
help in configuring and installing the Client. For every activity the
user performs on the computer
Installed on managers' PCs, a standalone Viewer navigates to the Data Vault folders and displays the data recorded by the Clients. There is no need to visit or connect to the Client computers.
The Viewer Displays Complete Chat/IM Conversations and Other Activity
