Configure Computers
Prevent the Client computer(s) from engaging in specific conversations using the Block Chat/IM Access panel in the Deployment Utility or in Client Settings. These settings block or allow chat or messaging with specific people.
For example, if you notice that Bob is continually on Yahoo Messenger having inappropriate conversations with his girlfriend Sue, you can block Sue's Yahoo ID. You would know her ID by observing the previous Chat/IM recordings in the Viewer. Bob can still use Yahoo Messenger, but he will not send or receive any messages from Sue. To block a type of Chat/IM altogether, select the Chat/IM port for blocking on the Block Internet Access panel.
To block Chat/IM access:

Block Chat/IM Access - Check to block or allow Chat/IM from contacts and activate the following settings. Clear this option to allow all chat and instant messaging that has NOT been blocked by the Block Internet Access settings.
Block contact names in list - Select this option to prevent the user at the Client from communicating with the contacts listed below. This option is useful when you have information about the contacts you don't want chatting with your users.
Allow access ONLY to contact names in list - Select this option to prevent the user at the Client from communicating with everyone except the contacts listed below. This option is useful for preventing all chat except with particular contacts, such as clients, teachers, or business associates.
Add
- Adds a contact name. Click this button to open a Chat/IM Blocking box
where you can select the chat application being used and the specific
contact you wish to block (or allow). The type of chat you select changes
what you enter for the contact. See the section below. Click OK
on the box to add the contact to your Chat/IM list.
Delete - Deletes a contact. Select a Chat/IM contact in the list and click this button to remove the contact.
To specify contacts to block:
Each type of Chat/IM has its own contact information. Obtain the contact information by reviewing Chat/IM recordings from Clients.

Be sure to select the correct chat type. For example, if a user is on Windows Live Messenger chatting with a Yahoo contact, you would select MSN for the Chat/IM type and enter the user's Yahoo account, such as friend88@yahoo.com. You can get the blocking information you need by viewing Chat/IM Activity. |
AOL/ICQ - Screen Name is the name displayed for the AOL user.
MSN - Email Address is part of the MSN passport, either a hotmail or MSN user account.
Yahoo - Yahoo ID is the Yahoo account name used for instant messaging.
MySpace - Display Name AND User Profile ID, the name the user has chosen for display and the actual MySpace User Profile ID.
