Data Viewer

The Favorites menu provides quick load data from a remote Data Vault. You simply add user or computer folders as "favorites" (similar to a "bookmark"), and then choose the user or computer directly from the Favorites menu. You don't have to navigate to the remote directory each time you want to load the data.

Use Favorites to:

  • Avoid having to navigate to a remote folder more than once.

  • Quickly load recordings for select users you need to monitor.

  • Create a list that mixes archived with active Data Vault folders (john, john_March, john_February, john_January).

You can add a favorite either when you browse to the folder on the network or after the data has already been loaded.

Adding While Browsing

To add a favorite when you browse:

  1. Open the Viewer.

  2. Open the File menu and select Open Directory.

  3. Use the Browse for Folder box to locate the remote computer and then select the user or computer folder you wish to load.

  4. On the Browse box, select Add to Favorites.

  1. Enter a name to identify folder. Click OK.

Wait as the Viewer loads the data. The folder, in this case named "Engineering-20 (archive)," is added to the Favorites menu.

Adding After Loading

If you are not sure if a folder contains the data you want, the next method allows you to view the data before adding it as a "favorite."

To add a favorite after data loads:

  1. After you have opened a directory and the data is loaded in the Viewer, open the Favorites menu and select Add to Favorites.

  2. Enter a name to identify the data folder. Click OK.

  3. Check your Favorites menu: a new item has been added.
