Monitor Users / Computers
A Viewer is automatically installed with Control Center and can also be installed separately, as a "standalone" application. The Viewer allows you to review recordings of individual users (or computers) from the Spector CNE Data Vault or from an active Client.
|
|
The Control Center Viewer includes administrative functions not available on standalone Viewers, such as Backup and Restore. |
To open the viewer from the Control Center:
Open the Control Center. Select Start > All Programs > Spector CNE > Spector CNE Control Center. If you wish, open the central Viewer directly by selecting Spector CNE Viewer from the Spector CNE menu. You will then "load" data for a user as described below.
In
the Control Center, select Monitor Users
(or Monitor Computers).
Double-click on a user (or computer) in the right pane.
If
you have set a file password to secure the Data Vault folder via Control Center > Properties > Data Vault,
the password prompt appears. If there is no password, no prompt appears.
Enter the password to access the data. If the password changed at any
point the Data Vault was being used, you will have to enter the old and
the new password.
The
Viewer opens, displaying events for the user (or computer) from the Data
Vault. By default, the Viewer loads the last 15 days of recorded events
for the user or computer you selected. To load different dates, open the
Data menu and select Refresh,
or press F5. See Refreshing
Data
Select Windows Start > Spector CNE > Spector CNE Viewer. The Viewer opens.
From the Viewer's menu bar, select File > Open Data Files.
Navigate to the Data Vault (Server)
computer in your network. You will need share access to the Data Vault
folder (default is C:\SpectorData) on this computer.
Open the Users (or Computers) folder. Select Domain and a domain or Local and a computer, and then select the User you wish to view. It is a good idea to use Add to Favorites to "bookmark" the user folder once you find it.
Click Open. If the data has been protected by a password, you are prompted to enter the password. By default, the Viewer loads the last 15 days of recorded events for the user or computer. To learn how you can load a different sets of data or change the defaults, see Loading Events.
To open a Viewer installed with the Client:
It is possible to install a Viewer with the Client. This option is available from the Client Security panel when you run the Deployment Utility and is NOT recommended unless you need to troubleshoot recording or communication issues at the Client. The Security panel defines the hotkey combination and password that opens the Viewer at the Client.
At the Client computer, enter the hotkey combination you defined for the Viewer.
The password prompt appears. Enter the Client security password. The Viewer opens, displaying recorded events directly from the local Client.
|
|
At the Client, only the most recent data can be reviewed. If the Client is in communication with the Data Vault, it will upload its data to the Data Vault and delete the local data every few minutes. |
