Refreshing Data

Data Viewer

Use Refresh on the Viewer toolbar when you want to view the most current data, or when you want to limit display of recorded events to a specific date range. Refresh is available from any view in the Viewer, including File Management.

A simple Refresh loads new recordings added to the data file folder after you have opened the Viewer. The Refresh Data box also allows you to refresh the viewing data for a particular time period. The date range you select applies to all views (including Show Data Files) for the current user or computer until you change it or load a different user or computer.

Refresh allows you to:

  • Filter recordings by date.

  • Zero in on a specific day for investigation purposes.

  • Load recordings for a wider date range, beyond what the Viewer loads by default.

  • Pick up the most recent Client recordings sent to the Data Vault.

To refresh data:

  1. On the Viewer toolbar, click Refresh or press the F5 key.

The Refresh Data window opens showing the current date range:
Using the Viewer on a Client, the range may be only one day.
Using the Viewer with an active CNE Data Vault, the range may be the 15 days loaded by default.
Using the Viewer with a CNE Archive, the range may be ALL dates in the folder.

  2. If you want to pick up the most recent data, simply click OK to refresh your existing view.

  3. To set a different starting date, type a mm/dd/yyyy date in the From field, or
Click the down-arrow to display a calendar for the current month with today's date circled in red and the earliest date for which there is recorded activity circled in solid blue.

  1. If possible, navigate through the months using the left arrow to move to the previous month, and the right arrow to move to the next month. You cannot navigate to a month before or after available recording data.

  2. Click on a date in the calendar; the calendar closes and the newly selected date appears in the From field on the Refresh Data window.

  1. To set a different ending date, repeat the above step for the To field.

  2. Click OK. The window closes, and a progress bar indicates that new data is being loaded into the Viewer. When loading is complete, the new dates appear in the Status bar at the bottom of the window.
