Vault
You can check the status of and control Data Vault settings from the Control Center Properties. Right-click the Control Center, select Properties, and then click on the Data Vault tab. Remember, one Control Center controls one Data Vault Service.
To view or change Data Vault Server properties:
The top of the Data Vault Properties panel allows you to move the Data Vault Server, change the IP port on which it listens for Clients, stop the service, or view the Data Vault Server log.

Computer Name - Computer where the Data Vault Service is installed.
Move - Remove the Data Vault Service and install it on another computer.
Listen IP Port - The IP Port where the Data Vault listens for data from the Clients. Change this port only if there is a conflict on your network. If you change the port here, you will need to reinitialize the Clients with new Server Communication settings.
Start Svr / Stop Svr - Start and stop the Data Vault Windows service. If the service is stopped, the Start Svr button is active. If the service is running, the Stop Svr button is active. This action is the same as stopping the service from the Windows Service Manager or from the Data Vault Administration window. When the service is stopped, Client data cannot be delivered to the Data Vault and remains on the local Client until the service is restarted.
Log
Detail Level - Select the detail level for logging Data Vault activity:
Low - Less activity is recorded, resulting in a smaller log
file.
Normal - The default level of activity is recorded.
Debug - Use when SpectorSoft Technical Support requests more
information.
View Server Log - Displays the Data Vault log file. This information may be requested by SpectorSoft technical support for diagnostic purposes.
Show Server Tray Icon - Mark this checkbox to display the Data Vault icon representing the Data Vault service in the Windows notification area (lower right area of the taskbar).
To view or change the Windows File System Storage:
The Data Vault receives Client recordings and stores them in your specified Data Vault file storage location (default is C:\SpectorData). The recording files are organized by User by default, and include Email Attachments and Screen Snapshots. The File System options allow you to change the location and manage disk space used by the files.

Base Path - Displays the current path to the Data Vault's file storage location.
Configure Path - Opens the Set Paths
box where you can configure a new path to the Data Vault file storage
directory. Browse to a new location if necessary,
then click OK to set the new path
and Data Vault directory. See changing the Data Vault path.
Save Files For n days - Sets the number of days the Data Vault will maintain days of recording before discarding the files. This ensures disk space won't be overrun by accumulating data. The default is 30 days. So if you have been recording Joe's computer for 2 months, with this setting you will be able to access only the last month of data; files from earlier days have already been discarded. You can set up automatic Archiving to make sure older data is moved elsewhere in case you need it. If you choose to increase this setting be aware of disk space on the Data Vault computer.
Set File Password - Click this button to display an Enter New Password box. This password protects the data after the Data Vault has received data from the Client. Note that the password affects only data going forward, not data in the past. The Viewer prompts for this password (after it is open) when it attempts to retrieve data received AFTER this password is in effect. This is a security precaution to prevent unauthorized users from viewing recorded data. If you change the password, the Viewer will require each password for each password-protected section of data.
Advanced - Click this button to open the Data Vault Advanced Properties box, where you can set the Data Vault to record by User or by Computer and determine how users or computers will be "discovered" in the Monitor Users/Computers View. See Data Vault Advanced Properties.
Archiving - Opens the Data Vault Archiving box where you can set automatic archiving or use the "Archive Now" function. See Archiving Data.
To view the Data Vault version:
The currently installed version of the Data Vault is displayed at the bottom of the Data Vault Properties panel.
