Spector 360 for Networks records computers across a network
and delivers the recorded data to a centralized location. Spector 360
relies on (1) the Client Recorder, (2) Server Components
An undetectable program on each user's PC, the Client records all activity and automatically uploads recordings to the Data Vault service. See the Spector 360 Administrator's Guide for instructions on installing and configuring the Client.
Installed on a centralized computer, the Control Center lets an Administrator install and configure the Client software on PCs throughout your network. The Control Center sets Client recording parameters, such as how often screens are captured in snapshots. See the Spector 360 Administrator's Guide for instructions on using the Control Center.
The Primary Server provides a connection to SpectorSoft and manages software updates and licensing for your installed Clients. See the Spector 360 Administrator's Guide for more information about this component.
The Data Vault service receives and processes Client recordings and inserts the data into the Spector 360 (SQL-type) Database. Email attachments and Screen Snapshots are stored in files. The Data Vault is comprised of the Data Vault service, the Databases, and the File Storage Location. Use the Management tools described in this Spector 360 Dashboard Guide to manage the data and the database.
The Web Filter Server allows and blocks access to web sites. The Web Filter Server intercepts each Client web site request and queries the Spector 360 Website Filtering policy to see whether to allow or block the request. The policy is a set of "rules" defined in the Dashboard and stored with the 360 Databases that allow or block categories of domains by user and by time. If the Web Filter Server finds that the requested domain is blocked for this user at this time, it loads a "Blocked Web Site" page at the Client instead of allowing the requested web site page to load.
Installed on managers' PCs, the Dashboard connects to a Spector 360 Database and displays recorded data. The Dashboard allows managers to query the database by date, time, user, computer, and other event criteria. This Dashboard Guide provides instructions on using this application.
