Changing the Database

Note: If no Dashboard logins have been defined in the database, you must log in using the SQL Server System Administrator (sa) login and  password.

Each Dashboard user must have a Dashboard login account defined in the Spector 360 Database and log in to access data.

Logging in

When you open the Dashboard, a Login prompt displays the installed Spector 360 Database.

To log in to the database:

  1. Next to Authentication, select SQL or Windows. Your Spector 360 Administrator will tell you which type of authentication to use.

  2. Select your Spector 360 Database instance.
The instance has the name computer\Spector360, where computer is the name of the machine on which the database is installed. If you need to select a different SQL Server instance, click the arrow to display a drop-down list of SQL Server instances.

  1. Log in.
    Windows
:  If your Windows login is valid to start the Dashboard (ask your Spector 360 Administrator) and you are currently logged in on this computer, simple click Login. No password entry is necessary.

Windows login requires no username or password.

    SQL
: Enter your Login name and password, and then click Login.

SQL Server login is not case sensitive.

If the password fails, a message appears: "Unable to establish database connection" with the failed login information. Press OK to return to the Login prompt and try again, or press Cancel to exit the program.

Changing the Current Login

To log in as a different user when the Dashboard is already open:

  1. Open the Tools menu and select Change Database.

  2. Enter login information for the other user using SQL Server authentication. For Windows authentication, you would need to close the Dashboard, log into the Windows system as an approved Dashboard user, and then restart the Dashboard.

  3. Click Login and wait for the Dashboard to reload.
