Managing the Login Accounts

Master Dashboard Login Only

Dashboard Logins under Management Folders lists all currently defined Dashboard accounts (for the current SQL Server instance). All Dashboard users can see the Dashboard Logins, but only a Master Login can create or edit the accounts. When a Master Login creates an account, it is automatically added to the database with the permissions specified. As part of the login account, each user also receives a Dashboard profile that can help the user select criteria and view recorded Spector 360 data.

Viewing Logins

To view Dashboard Logins:

Select the Management tool and the Dashboard Logins folder.

Initially, the right pane lists only the System Administrator (SA) MASTER account and one or more Service Accounts used by Spector 360 services to access the database. Once logins are defined, Dashboard users will be able to view all logins and users with SQL authentication will be able to modify their own password. Only a Master Dashboard Login will be able to modify login settings for other users.

For each account, the Dashboard Logins Management pane shows:

Click on any column heading to re-sort the list of logins.

User Roles

Before setting up Dashboard login accounts, the Master Login should consider user roles and security. Roles are set by the Dashboard Login Type and the Access privileges assigned to the login. A few login accounts you will need to define are:

Each Dashboard login should receive permission to access data for specific users and specific events (Chat/IM, Keystrokes, Screen Snapshots, etc). For example, some managers should view recordings only from users in their department, whereas executives may need to see charts showing recorded data from all users. Make sure individuals have privileges to access recordings only for the people for whom they are responsible.

A Dashboard login applies to a specific SQL Server instance.
If you have more than one Data Vault installed and are using more than one SQL Server instance (database), users will need a login account specifically defined for each SQL Server instance. The logins visible in Dashboard Logins Management are for the currently connected SQL Server instance only.

Managing the Login Accounts

Only a Master Login has privilege to access these functions.

To access the login functions:

Use the toolbar buttons or the right-click menu.

Set Up a Useful Profile
Dashboard users can benefit by selecting groups of users or domains for criteria and by having access to a few charts customized for use at your organization. The default Dashboard profile is used for a new account unless you COPY it from another existing account. See Copying a Login.
