Master Dashboard Login, Allow Database Maintenance
A Master Login with Database Maintenance privileges may need to restore an archived STORAGE database for investigation, research, or to reconstruct the data from a particular time period in the past.
In the Dashboard, Databases Management lists all databases that have been archived for the current Spector 360 SQL Server instance. To determine if the STORAGE database you wish to restore actually has the data you need, right-click and select View Statistics. Statistics provide the dates, computers, and users captured by the stored recordings in the database.
The
Dashboard restores STORAGE archives.
Restoring an archive restores only
the STORAGE database from the selected archive. If you need to reconstruct
the entire Spector 360 Database, use Backup and
Restore to restore a Full Backup. The STORAGE archive to be restored
must be on your list of databases in Databases
Management. The default location for archives is on the Data Vault - Database
computer at C:\MSSQL$SPECTOR360\Archive.
The
archive must be on the database computer.
If the Archive folder has been physically moved to a different location,
copy it back to the computer where the Spector 360 Data Vault - Database
resides. When you are working within the Dashboard, the SQL Server service
needs full permission to the archive folder, and the only way to ensure
the permission is by returning the archive to the machine where the Spector
360 SQL Server instance is installed.
You
can restore from a remote Dashboard.
The restore function automatically looks at the archive destination
location on the Data Vault computer for the Archive folder. From that
folder, select the archive you want.
The
Dashboard only restores from previously archived data.
If a database has not been archived, you cannot perform the restore
archive function. If you need to restore from a database backup, select
Backup and Restore from the Management
navigation pane. See Restoring a Backup.
To restore an archived database:
Select the Management tool and the Databases folder.
In the right pane, select the database you wish to restore.
On the toolbar, click Restore
Database, or
right-click the archived database and select
Restore Database.
Wait for the database to be restored. Click Refresh on the toolbar. The status for the database will be updated if the restore was successful, and the data will be available to Dashboard users.
