Logging in to the Dashboard

Each Dashboard user must log in to get access to the Database and the Dashboard application.

To start the Dashboard:

  1. Double-click the Dashboard icon on your Desktop, or open the Windows Start menu and select All Programs.

  2. Select Spector 360 and Spector 360 Dashboard.  When the program starts, the SQL Server Login prompt appears.

To log in to Dashboard:

  1. Select your SQL Server Spector 360 instance.
Click the arrow to display a drop-down list of SQL Server instances. The instance has the name computer\Spector360, where computer is the name of the machine on which the database is installed.

  2. Log in using Windows or SQL authentication.

Use Windows authentication: Select  this option if your Windows login name and password are valid to start Dashboard with the database you selected (ask your System  Administrator, if you are unsure). If your Windows authentication is valid, no password entry is necessary. Continue to step 3.

Use SQL Server authentication: Select this option if the System Administrator (SA) has given you a SQL Server login, if you are logging into a different database requiring a different password, or if you are the SA or a Master user wishing to access expanded privileges at another user's computer. Enter your user name and your password.

  1. Click OK.
If the password fails, a message appears: "Unable to establish database connection" with the failed login information. Press OK to return to the SQL Server Login window and try again, or press Cancel to exit the program.
