What's New in Spector 360

Spector 360 version SR2 adds:

Category-based Web Filtering and Blocking with Centralized Policy Management supplements the existing Client-side blocking (available from Client Settings). Now you can specify whole categories of web sites to block or allow, group the categories, set "time profiles," specify rules for blocking, and add to or edit the categories while the blocking is active. There is no need to update or reinstall the Client; Website Filtering is applied automatically from the server. See Website Filtering.

With this release, Spector 360 supports the Windows Vista operating system.

A new layer of security allows a Master Login to limit Dashboard access by event types (Websites Visited, Chat/IM, Email, Document Tracking, etc). In addition to limiting a Dashboard login to specific users, you now can limit which recorded user activities may be viewed. See Adding/Editing a Login.

Control snapshots by user events, such as opening a web page or pressing a key. Combine select event triggers with time interval Snapshots for the best reporting for your needs. See the Control Center's Snapshot Settings: Configure Triggers.

In addition to Website Filtering, Spector 360 now allows filtering (at the Client) by Chat or Instant Messaging contacts. Stop time-wasting or inappropriate conversations before they happen by blocking the remote contact. See the Control Center's Block Chat/IM.

It is now possible to search for characters or words in an email attachment file name. You can query all sent and received email recordings, zooming in on a file attachment of interest. See Email Event Criteria.

Spector 360 now provides the ability to easily distribute server components across the network on installation. Services (such as Data Vault and SQL Server) that formerly had to reside on the same machine can be spread across the network to allow for heavier and multiple database usage. See Installing 360 Server Components

In addition to saving Screen Snapshots from the Dashboard, a programmer can use a COM module to create a video (.AVI) file from a series of Snapshots. Also, the Simple API to the Database has been improved by allowing user and computer parameters. See Developer Tools in the Administrator's Guide.

An improved Dashboard interface makes it easy to store a report from Quick View in any Reports folder, access detailed information from Quick View grids, and go directly to a visited web site from anywhere in the Events Window.

Control Keyword Alert scanning from one dialog box. See the Control Center's Keyword Alert Settings.

Database Management is reorganized for ease of use and now includes a Jobs Status indicator. See the Dashboard's Space Management and Database Configuration, and Jobs Management folders.

The upgraded Spector 360 Database offers greater scalability and improved performance. The architecture is able to support large installations generating massive amounts of data and heavy Internet and PC usage. Faster data processing results in more immediate availability of information for review at the Dashboard.
