Parts of the Dashboard

Dashboard Menus

The Dashboard provides a navigation pane on the left side of the window where you select tools and the folder (or panel) of data. The Dashboard's right pane shows data from the folder (or panel) you select on the left. In the Quick View, the right pane contains a panel of 8 charts or grids.

Moving Around the Dashboard

To get around in the Dashboard:

In general, move from left to right.

  1. Choose a tool.
At the bottom of the Dashboard, in the left navigation pane, click on a tool button: Quick View, Data Explorer,  User Explorer, Reports, and Management.

  2. Select a panel or folder.
At the top of the navigation pane, select one of the panels (Quick View) or folders the current tool provides. Each panel or folder displays a set of charts, reports, data forms, or resources in the right pane.

  3. Select the data to view.
In the right pane, select or double-click on a user, activity, report, or resource. For Data Explorer, User Explorer, and the Reports tool, a dialog box prompts you to accept the data criteria for the form or report.

Parts of the Dashboard

(1) Navigation Pane
The left column provides centralized navigation to all features. From top to bottom, the navigation pane includes a toolbar, panels or folders, Global Criteria, Dashboard Tool buttons, and access to navigation pane settings.

(2) Toolbar
The navigation toolbar contains buttons such as New (Panel, Chart, Data Form, Folder) and Refresh. Options change according to which Dashboard Tool is selected. See each Tool for more information.

(3) Panels / Folders
The "shortcut" area of the navigation pane presents panels or folders within the selected Dashboard Tool. Selecting a panel or folder displays its charts, reports, or data forms in the right pane.

(4) Global Criteria
The Global Criteria pane allows you to set the default criteria (database querying) for recorded events within the currently selected Dashboard tool.

(5) Dashboard Tools
Clicking a tool button changes the available panels / folders in the Navigation pane, and displays different right pane data.

(6) Navigation Pane Settings
Allows you to show and hide buttons to change the navigation pane appearance.  For example, the Search or Management tool button may not be visible initially. Use this button to display all tools or limit the display to fewer tools.

(7) Right Pane
Shows charts, reports, or data forms available to view within each selected panel or folder.

Dashboard Menus

A menu bar at the top of the Dashboard window provides commands. You may also right-click on a panel or folder in a pane to access commands. Options may change, depending on the Tool currently selected.
