Backups allow you to save all Spector 360 databases so that they can be fully restored in the event you move the Database, the data becomes compromised, or a system failure occurs. We recommend maintaining at least two full backups of the data.
Backups are important because they include ALL databases, not just the STORAGE databases that the archive function stores.
Use the Jobs folder to schedule backups or perform immediate backups. See Backing up the Database.
A backup set is a folder including a full backup file and each subsequent differential backup (up to the next full backup).
Manage disk space used by backups using Windows file management system to move them elsewhere, or by using the Dashboard's automatic space management options.
A full restore process retrieves a full backup plus the latest differential backup associated with the full backup (if any). See Restoring a Backup.
To view backups:
Open the Management tool and select the Backup and Restore folder. The right pane lists each Full Backup that has been performed and is detected at the Backup location.

Full Backup Date: The date and time the backup set was created by performing a full backup.
Differential Backup Date: The date and time the last differential backup was performed for the backup set.
File size: The size of the backup file.
Database version: The version of the Spector 360 Database used to perform the backup.
Valid Backup: Yes means you can restore the backup; No means the database version is invalid or the data has been compromised.
Backup File: Names the full backup file that will be used with the latest differential, if available, to restore the data.
Backup Path: Identifies the path to the backup.
By default, backups are stored in the folder shown below. Each backup folder is labeled by date and contains a full backup file (F---.BAK) and any differential backups (D---.BAK).

If you have not changed the default Backup job schedules or settings, you are getting a Full Backup every week and a Differential Backup every night on the same computer where the databases are installed and collecting data. Copy the Backup folder to media or another drive and then delete the Backup folder to avoid overloading the hard drive. |

We recommend keeping at least two full backups of your Spector 360 data available. To save disk space, delete older backups that you probably won't be using. See Space Management for automatic space management options. The SA login can delete a backup set directly from Backup and Restore Management.
To delete a backup:
Open the Management tool and select the Backup and Restore folder.
Select the backup you wish to delete.
Right-click and select Delete.

A message asks you to confirm the deletion. Click Yes to continue.
Wait until a message appears telling you that the selected backup and its associated files have been removed. Click OK. The backup is now deleted from the hard drive.
Click Refresh on the toolbar (or right-click and select Refresh) to see an updated list of backups.
