If a predefined chart (see Quick View Panels) doesn't show exactly what you want to see, you can adjust the view of the chart, or change the chart data.
If data elements are hard to read, temporarily exclude a bar (or pie slice) from the chart.
If data elements are hard to read, zoom in on a portion of the chart.
If there is too much or too little data shown, adjust the Criteria.
If the chart appearance, focus, or title is wrong, adjust the Settings.
Note: A Master login can set up a template for new login accounts that contains charts already customized for use at your organization. See Copying a Login.
Sometimes a chart's presentation of data is skewed by one extremely long bar or extremely large pie slice, which makes the other data elements barely readable. You can Exclude (or hide) the problem data point temporarily in order to enhance the readability of the other data elements.
To temporarily exclude a data element:
Right-click on the bar, pie slice or data element.
Select Exclude
data.
The data element (bar, pie slice, point, or data row) is removed from
the view and the view adjusts to new data limits.
Click Refresh on the Quick View toolbar to return the excluded data element to its place in the chart.

Excluding a data point does not affect the criteria or data contents of the chart; it affects only your view of the chart right now. You can print or export a chart with excluded point(s), but the next time you open the chart, the point(s) will be there. |
To get a closer look at the bars and axis values in a chart, zoom in on a portion of the chart. You can zoom in on horizontal or vertical bar charts and spline charts.
To temporarily zoom in on a chart:
Click, hold down the mouse button, and
drag across a portion of the chart.
Release the mouse button. The chart "zooms in" over the area you selected. Zooming in provides more detailed grid labels, and it's easier to see the difference between the chart elements. A scroll bar appears allowing you to scroll the width of the chart.
To return to the full chart view, click
the Zoom Out button at the bottom of the chart until the bottom bar disappears.

When you have too much or not enough data in a chart, you can always change the Criteria. Changing the criteria expands or limits the data shown in the chart. Criteria includes date range, computers, users, and filters on the activity type. See About Criteria.
To change the Chart Criteria:
Click the Criteria
button at the bottom of the chart. The Criteria box opens.

Change the General Criteria to focus date, time, users, and computers. Change the Event Criteria to filter the events gathered for comparison. The Event Criteria selections depend on type of activity shown in the chart.
Click OK.

Having "groups" of computers, users, domains and programs defined makes it easier for Dashboard users to select criteria. If you are a Master user, see the grouping options in the Management Tool. |
If you would prefer different chart graphic, a larger chart, a 3-D chart, a chart showing 25 instead of 10 users, or a different chart title, change the Settings.
To change the way a chart looks:
Click the Settings button below a chart. The Settings box opens.
This box allows you to change the chart type to a vertical bar or pie chart,
add a 3-dimensional effect, add or remove chart elements ("top 20"
instead of "top 10"), and enlarge the chart. See Chart
Settings for complete information.
