Viewed from the Dashboard, recordings of Chat/IM Events give you an information and transaction trail of every computer-based conversation. Select Chat/IM Event Criteria to narrow the Dashboard view to specific events, not only to discover inappropriate behavior, but also to archive and reconstruct communication events that may be vital to your organization.
To narrow the Chat/IM events by keywords or phrases:
Type the keywords you want to match in the "for" box (for example, "Mike") and then select one or more of the "in" options. For more about keyword matching, click here. Only the events where a match is found are displayed in the Dashboard.
Include partial matches: Check to look for a partial match; for example, the search word "man" would match "mankind" or "manage" in any of the following data fields.
Chat Contents: Look for the "Search for" words in the text contents of the chat conversations.
Windows Caption: Look for the "Search for" words in the Windows title bar of the Chat program. For example, a Windows Messenger caption might read "Mike Friendly - Conversation" and this chat would be retrieved in a search for "Mike" in this field.
Local User: Look for the "Search for" words in the chat name of local user. For example, searching for "Lolita" would reveal chats where the local participant is going by that name.
Remote User: Look for the "Search for" words in the chat name of any of the remote chat participants. For example, searching for "Humbert" on this field would reveal chats where the remote user has that name.
To limit Chat / IM data by programs:
Specify a program or group of programs you wish to include or exclude. For example, if you use Windows Messenger for official business and are investigating "official" conversations, you would select "Include Specific Program(s)" and then specify the Windows Messenger program. See Viewing by Program.
To filter events based on the chat client:
Click orange items in the list below for a quick explanation.
Each chat client has a different protocol. Select a Chat Type to limit
