Creating a Detail Report

Use the Detail Reports to mine for and highlight data within a very fine granularity. Similar to the lower grid in an Events Window, a Detail Report displays data for each event that matches your criteria in rows and columns. A Detail Report has the potential to show ALL or ANY field in each data record, organized (grouped) as you choose.  Fields containing web site URLs are active hyperlinks (click to display the web site in a browser) that are maintained when you create a PDF from the report.

Detail Reports provided in the Dashboard Reports folders include:

The Detail Report is structured according to the data grouping you choose and includes only the fields that you select.

To create a Detail Report:

  1. Open the New Report wizard.
From the toolbar (or right-click on empty space in the right pane) select New and Report. The New Report Wizard opens. Click Next.

  2. Select the Detail report type.
    Click Next.

  3. Select the Event Type for the report (required).
Select an activity type from the drop-down list. Your selection determines the Grouping and Field selections for the next steps. Click Next.

  4. Change the data Grouping (optional).
Drag groups from the Available to the Selected Fields column, or drag them up and down the Selected Fields hierarchy.  The right pane shows the current grouping. See Event Data Grouping. Click Next.

  5. Select Report Fields (required).
Select the data to be shown in the Detail Report columns from the Available Fields. Click the > button to move them to the Selected Fields list. Use the arrow next to each field to specify Ascending, Descending, or None for the field order. For example, an Ascending Date field will list dates from earliest to latest.

  6. Enter a Report Title (required).

  7. Click Finish.
The report appears in the currently selected Report Folder.

To improve the report appearance, right-click the report in the Reports folder and select Settings.

  • Reduce items in the Grouping to "flatten" the chart.

  • Change the Report Fields to add or remove data.

Use the Reports Preview window to change the orientation of the chart or add a background color.
