Creating a New Chart

In some cases it may be easier for you to build your own chart rather than modifying one of the predefined charts.  If you wish, create new panels to organize and display your custom charts. For a Standard Dashboard user, the charts you create are for your Dashboard only. Master and System Administrator users can create charts to be used by all Dashboard users.

If a panel already has 8 charts, and you attempt to create a new chart on the panel, a message informs you that you have reached the maximum number of charts. Add the chart to a different panel, or create a new panel for the chart.

To create a new chart:

  1. On the Quick View left navigation pane, select the panel where you want to add a chart. Click the New Chart button where it appears, or right-click and select New and select Chart. The New Chart Wizard opens. (You can also select a New Chart from the toolbar.)

Click the New Chart Graphic or Select New and Chart

  2. If you want to go directly to the Chart Settings window instead of using the wizard, select Advanced Setup. Click Next.

  5. Select a Chart size.
Choose 1/4 page, 1/2 page horizontal, 1/2 page vertical, or full page. At 1/4 page, the chart appears at the default size in the panel. At full page, the chart fills the area of 4 charts. Click Next.

  6. Enter a Chart title.
Type a descriptive name for the chart. If you want to adjust the criteria settings right away, check Customize Criteria Settings.

The New Chart Wizard takes you step-by-step through chart settings.  You can bypass the wizard and go directly to the Chart Settings window by selecting Advanced Setup at the first step of the wizard.
