While General Criteria always provides date/user/computer settings, Event Criteria settings vary by activity and filter the retrieved data records based on activity-related fields. By default there is no activity-related filtering. No "search" occurs, and ALL types of email, ALL web site domains, ALL types of file transfers, and so on, are retrieved. You can adjust Event Criteria so that it works with General Criteria to produce the cross-hair view you may require into the data. Problem areas come into focus, and charts become easier to read.

To open the Event Criteria panel:
Open the Criteria box for a chart, report, or data form and select the Event Criteria tab.

To search for keywords in events:
In the Search for box, enter up to 99 characters to match in the event records. All events (except User Activity and Screen Snapshots) allow you to search for keywords or phrases as criteria.
Check Search in fields where you want to search for the keyword(s). Fields depend on the type of activity. Web Site Event Criteria provides a URL and a Window Caption field. Network Event Criteria (shown above) provides a Domain, a Host, and an IP Address field. Clear fields where you do not wish to search.

To select Program(s), Domain(s), Action or Type:

Below the Search options, Event Criteria may offer additional selections:
Program(s): Select specific programs or program groups to include or exclude. For example, you can track active time spent on a game program.
Domain(s): Select specific domains or domain groups to include or exclude.
Actions / Types: Most events include fields that identify the action or type of event that occurred (such as upload/download, print/edit/rename or different protocols). Select the options you wish to find and retrieve for display in the Dashboard. See the Event Criteria for each activity type in this Help.

Criteria Settings: As on the General Criteria panel, this informational field summarizes ALL criteria selections, revealing the values for any <Use Global Criteria Setting>, any General Criteria settings, and your Event Criteria settings.
Save Criteria: Check this option to make these criteria settings "stick" as you refresh with new data from the database. If you do not check this option, the criteria settings return to the defaults when you use Refresh.
Click OK to apply the selections and generate the chart, form or report. Click Cancel to return to the previous selections and cancel the chart, form or report.
