Navigate in Event Groups

The Navigate pane in the upper left corner of the Events window lets you explore an event "grouping." The group starts with a top Events or User branch that expands to show a data hierarchy.  Use the Navigate pane to control how data appears in the other panes.

From the Navigate pane, you can:

To expand a group:

Click the + (plus sign) in front of a branch to reveal the next branch in the group. In the illustration below, network events are grouped by user, by day, and then by programs used. Click a - (minus sign) in front of a branch to close it up.

To list items in the Summary pane:

Click a branch to highlight it. The data grouped within the branch appears in the right Summary pane. If you select the lowest branch on a tree in the Navigate pane, nothing appears in the Summary pane.

To load events from a data group:

Select a branch in either the Navigate or Summary pane and click the Load Events button. (Once the data has been loaded, you will not have to click the button, the data will appear when you select the branch.) All individual event records in the branch are loaded into the Events grid in the lower pane. For an explanation of fields in records for each activity type, see Understanding Recorded Events.

Note: If you select a branch that contains too many events, the Dashboard may not be able to display all of the event records.

To change the data grouping:

The following list shows default event data groupings (within the Events Window) for each activity type. Click Grouping if you wish to change the hierarchy of data and add or remove data from the grouping. See Changing the Data Grouping.

To print or export aggregates:

In the Navigate pane, click the >> menu button.
