What You Can Do

Viewing Contents of Events

An Events window shows details from Data Explorer, User Explorer, and Quick View (when you click on a chart element). The Events Window allows you to display, analyze, and act on recorded data. Use the Events window to navigate from general event types, to an event summary, to event details, and finally (for emails, chat, and keystrokes) to event contents.

Navigating in Events

To navigate in the Events window:

In general, go from left to right and top to bottom. An Events window has 3 or 4 panes:

  1. The left Navigate pane provides a "tree" of grouped events, usually starting with a user and descending to a day or specific type of action. Select a branch to change the data shown in the Summary pane. See Navigate in Event Groups.

  2. The right Summary pane shows a list of items within the currently selected branch in the Navigate pane. See Events Summary.

  3. Click Load Events. All events in the current selection are loaded into the Events grid. If you click the button in the Navigate pane, all events in the selected branch are loaded. If you click in the Summary pane, all events for the date (or other group) are loaded.

  4. The Events grid shows each data record (individual event). The Events grid shows different data fields for each activity type. You can View Screen Snapshots for a selected event to view the context in which it happened.

  5. An Event Contents pane shows captured contents of a Chat/IM, Email, or Keystrokes event. This pane is only available for those activity types. Keystrokes has additional options for the Contents pane.
