Finding a Filtering Rule

Master Login

If you end up with a long list of Filtering Rules, or rules that are somewhat complex, it may become difficult to edit and fine-tune the filtering policy. The Find tool in Filtering Rules Management allows you to focus in on the rule or rules you are looking for: by domain, by time of day, by category or category group, or by specific user. A star appears next to all rules that match your Find criteria, whether or not the rule is enabled.

To find a rule:

  1. Select Management and Filtering Rules under Website Filtering to display the full list of rules.

  2. Click the Find button on the toolbar.  A Find Rules pane opens at the top of Filtering Rules Management.

  3. Use one or more of the following fields to locate a rule or rules where a match is found. For example, you can find rules involving the domain "badwebsite.com" that are in effect at 12 noon AND affect a particular user group.

  4. Click the Find button at the bottom of the form. If a match is found, a star appears next to the rule.

To reset all fields and start again:

Click the Clear button. This returns all fields to the default <All> setting.
