Monitoring Job Status

Normally database jobs such as Process Data Vault work in the background and there's no indication of their progress. However, it is possible to open a Job Status box and watch Process Data Vault run every few minutes as scheduled, as well as any other scheduled job.

When you launch a job, such as Full Backup > Backup Now,  the Job Status box automatically appears to indicate progress. Especially in the case of a Full Backup, Archive, or Restore, you need to know if the job is running and when it is finished, since you cannot use the Dashboard while the job is running.

To monitor job status:

  1. Right-click in the Jobs Management pane and select Monitor Job Status. The Job Status box appears.

  2. A green bar shows the job in progress. The bar does not show percentage of completion; it simply shows that the job is running. When the job is finished, the green bar disappears.

  3. Leave the Job Status box open if you want to continue monitoring jobs. You can switch to other Dashboard views and the box will remain on top. Click the Close button to close the Job Status box.

Note: The database jobs are polled every 10 seconds for status. If an error occurs (a database timeout, or other error), <Unavailable> is displayed where the progress bars normally appear.
