Recorded Chat/IM Events

Note: Chat/IM recording can be turned on or off and blocked at the port (or by contact) from the Spector 360 Control Center.

Spector 360 records every computer-based conversation that occurs on your network, whether the user is in a chat room or using instant messaging (IM). For each event, Spector 360 records the name of all parties involved and saves a complete copy of the conversation. Viewed from the Dashboard, the Chat/IM Events provide an information trail of communication among employees and clients. Not only does this reveal inappropriate behavior, but it allows you to archive and reconstruct communication events that may be vital to your organization.

The following fields are recorded for each event.  You can print and export this data. If you are storing screen snapshots, you can go directly to the snapshot of the currently selected event record by clicking View Screen Snapshots.

To navigate in the Events:

In the Events grid click any field to select a record and then scroll up or down through the records or use the "Play" buttons (see below) at the bottom of the grid to move through records.

To copy from an events field:

Right-click a field and select Copy or double-click the field to access an edit mode. You can't change the field, but you can select and copy the field contents to paste where you wish elsewhere; for example, copy a URL and paste it into a browser window.

To sort the records by any field:

Click any field column header (e.g., Remote Users) to list the records A-Z by that field. Hold down the Shift key and click on column headings to sort by multiple fields (e.g., Remote Users and Program).

To select how many records are shown:

Use the tree in the upper left Navigate pane to select a higher (more records) or lower (fewer records) branch in the Event Group. Click Load Events to see the records for the group in the Events pane.  This allows you to adjust the data for report and export purposes.

To view a Screen Snapshot of a recording:

Select the recording in the Events pane and click View Screen Snapshots or right-click in the Events grid on a record and select Go to View Event Snapshots. The Screen Snapshot viewer opens with events from that day.
