Screen Snapshots are graphical views of a computer screen. They allow you to see exactly what a user was seeing on his or her computer during a day, and are most useful when (a) you have reason to believe that inappropriate usage may be occurring at a computer, or (b) you are trying to retrace actions to investigate or reconstruct an incident. Snapshots can be recorded every few minutes or much less frequently. How often the computer screen changes, or what is shown on screen, gives you a good idea of the actual work being done on that computer.
The Snapshot Viewer

To change criteria from the Snapshot Viewer, open the File menu and select Criteria.
To view Screen Snapshots:
Do one of the following:
Open Data Explorer, select a folder, and in the right pane double-click on a Screen Snapshot activity form. In the Snapshot Selection Criteria box, choose a user or computer to review, select a day, and click OK. The Snapshots Viewer opens for the selected user or computer.
Open User
Explorer and double-click a user in the right pane. In the User
Events window, click the View Snapshots
button on the toolbar at the top of the window. The Snapshots Viewer opens
for the selected user.
Open an Events Window, load events
into the detailed Events grid. Select a recording in the grid and click
View Screen Snapshots. The Snapshots
Viewer opens for the selected recording.
The Snapshot Viewer has a toolbar that allows you to explore the data currently loaded. To view a different set of data, close the Snapshot Viewer and request different criteria or a different event.

You can view the selected time period in the Snapshot viewer,
showing one snapshot after the other
To view snapshots, use buttons on the toolbar:
Click the green Play

The snapshots are presented one after the other. As soon as you click
Play, you'll notice that Stop
replaces the Play button, and Slower and Faster buttons replace the Back
and Forward buttons that were on either side of Play.
Click the Slow
button when the viewer is "playing" to slow down the presentation.
Click the Fast button to speed
it up.
Click the Stop
button to stop at any Snapshot.

As soon as you click Stop, the Back and Forward buttons reappear.
Click Back
when the viewer is "stopped" to back up one Snapshot screen.
Click Next to move to the next
Snapshot.
Click Last to move to the last
Snapshot.
Click First to move to the
first Snapshot.
To use the slider:
The slider at the top of the Snapshot viewer provides a quick way to browse through the series of Snapshots that make up the day. Click on and drag the slider to the right to move toward the end of the day and toward the left to move toward the beginning of the day. Or, click just to the right of the slider to step forward and just to the left of the slider to step backward through the Snapshots.

To view snapshots in full screen mode:
You can expand the view of snapshots to fill your screen so that what you see is exactly what the user saw. Click the Full Screen button on the Snapshot Viewer toolbar. A floating toolbar remains above the expanded screen. Click Full Screen again (on the floating toolbar) to return to the normal Snapshot Viewer window.
To switch between Dashboard and the Snapshot viewer:
Use the Snapshot viewer's Window menu. This menu lists all currently open Dashboard windows. To close the Snapshot viewer, click the Windows close box in the upper right corner or open the File menu and select Exit.
