The Jobs folder under the Spector 360 Management tool provides an overview of Database activity. You can view when a job ran last, when it runs next, and the job history. You can set job schedules and perform an immediate Database Backup. Because the Spector 360 application directly manages the data, no database maintenance other than this is required. The Database Jobs:
Maintain the SQL Server and database performance (Maintenance)
Process event data received by the Data Vault for insertion into the database (Process DV)
Process Archive/Restore and Space Management requests (Backup and Misc)
To view jobs for the current database:
Select the Management tool and click on the Jobs folder in the upper portion of the navigation pane. Types of database jobs are listed in the right pane.

Each job is listed with its run times, status and description. If a job has not been run, "None" appears under Last Run Time. If a job has not been scheduled, "Not Scheduled" appears under the Next Run Time.
Job Name: See "Types of Database Jobs" below; the name of the Spector 360 job.
Last Run Time: Date and time the job was last run, or "This job has not run" if the job has not been run.
Next Run Time: Date and time the job is scheduled to run next, or "Not Scheduled" if no schedule has been set. Note that Archive/Restore jobs cannot be scheduled through Jobs Management.
Current Status: "The job is currently idle" or "The job is executing."
Description: A brief description of the job.

Maintenance
- Server
This job performs behind-the-scenes, general server maintenance, such
as cycling SQL Server logs, flushing cache for all databases, and removing
excessive data. By preventing error logs and other files from becoming
too large, server maintenance ensures better performance. By
default, server maintenance takes place daily at 4:00 AM. You can change
the schedule to meet your requirements; for example, a high-volume server
may require the job to be run twice a day. Error logs are flat text files
stored in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SPECTOR360\LOG on
the Data Vault - Database computer.
Maintenance
- Database
This job performs behind-the-scenes maintenance to ensure database
performance, such as re-indexing all tables in the current STORAGE databases.
By default, database maintenance runs once a week on Sunday night. You
can change the schedule to meet your requirements.
Backup
- Full
A Full Backup fully backs up the CUSTOMER and STORAGE databases to
a specific folder location. The job has a default weekly schedule and
destination folder, which you can change to meet your requirements. Each
Full Backup causes a new folder containing a backup file to be created
in the defined backup location.
Backup
- Differential
A Differential Backup backs up all changes since the last Full Backup.
Use it for frequent and quick data backups. The
Differential Backup job has a default daily schedule and destination folder,
which you can change to meet your requirements. Differential
backups are always stored in association with a Full Backup at the defined
backup location. When you restore a database, the Full Backup plus the
latest Differential (if there is one) is used.
Process
DV - Common Data
This job processes data common among the event types — users, computers,
programs, and domains — that has been received by the DATA VAULT database
for insertion into current STORAGE Database. The
job runs every 2 minutes by default, depending on whether or not the Data
Vault is receiving Client data. You can change the schedule to meet your
requirements.
Misc
- Archive/Restore
This item tracks Archive and Restore jobs. An Archive job moves a specified
STORAGE database to an archive location, deleting it from the current
database location. A Restore job restores an archive or backup STORAGE
database to the active database. You can't schedule
these jobs, but you can view Job History and can set a new archive destination.
Set parameters for automatically managing archives from the Tools menu,
Options: Space Management.

|
Job scheduling does NOT apply to Archive/Restore jobs. An Archive job can be started automatically by using Space Management settings. |
Process
DV - Lookup Data
This job processes the lookup values Spector 360 uses internally from
event data in the DATA VAULT database for use in the STORAGE database
tables. By default, this job runs every 2 minutes. You can change the
schedule to meet your requirements.
Maintenance
- Space Management
This job executes any archives or deletion of archives and backups
that you have set up in Space Management.
If you have not enabled automatic space management, the job has no effect
on the data. Select the Space Management
folder in the left pane to change the settings. By default, this job runs
once a week.
Maintenance
- Flush Search Cache
This job flushes the Search tool cache. The Search cache keeps your
search results available so that you can return to them after using other
Dashboard tools. Because this cache uses up memory, it is flushed when
you leave the program and as often as set in this job schedule. By default,
the Search cache is scheduled to be flushed daily, once every four hours.
You can change the schedule to improve performance on your system.
Maintenance
- Data Retention
This job executes deletion of transactions that you have set up in
Space Management. If you have
not enabled automatic space management, no deletions take place. By default
the job is scheduled to run once a day.
