There are two types of user authentication for the Dashboard:
SQL
Server authentication
Requires entering a user name and password to start the Dashboard.
SQL Server authentication allows the user to log in to the Dashboard at
any computer that can access the appropriate database. This
type of authentication is preferable for a Master administrator, providing
easier access at more locations.
Windows
authentication
Does not require login when the Dashboard starts. If the Windows user
currently logged into the computer is a valid Dashboard Administrator,
the user simply presses OK on
the login prompt and Dashboard opens. The Dashboard passes the current
Windows account credentials to database server and will attempt to log
in automatically the next time it is opened.
It is possible to log in as a different user after the Dashboard automatically logs in under Windows authentication.
To log in as a different user:
Open the Tools menu on the main Dashboard window.
Select Change Database. You are prompted to save any changes that may be in progress.
In the SQL Server Login box, select Use SQL Server authentication.
Enter your SQL Server Login Name and Password and click OK.
