When User Explorer is selected, "folders" are displayed in the left navigation pane. The "All Users" folder is provided for viewing ALL users who have been detected by Spector 360 on your network. Only the users to which your Dashboard login has access are visible in the User Explorer list.

Organizing Users

If your organization has a large number of users, you may want to create new folders containing select users: by department, by location, or by "watch" category. You can select from the list of All Users to add users to your new folders. It is not possible to "create" a new user from User Explorer. See Changing Dashboard Folders.

When you create a new folder in User Explorer, you need to be able to add users into the folder and take them out again. Keep in mind that you are working with users already defined on the network who are being recorded.  There are two ways to add a user to a folder: (1) copy/paste a user or (2) add a new user.

Copying a User

You can copy users from (but not to) the All Users folder.

To copy a user:

Open the User Explorer tool and select the All Users Folder. Use one of these methods:

Adding a New User to a Folder

Using New to create a user in a User Explorer folder does not create a new user. It simply copies a user already detected by Spector 360 (already in All Users) to a new folder location. You can only select users whom you have Dashboard login permission to view.  

To add a new user to a folder:

  1. In the left pane, select a custom (not All Users) folder where you want to add the user.

  2. Click New on the toolbar (or right-click and select New) and choose User.  The Users Selection box appears.

  3. Select one or more users from the list. Use the Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple users.

  4. Click OK. The box closes and the selected users are added to the User folder.

Removing a User from a Folder

It is not a good idea to remove a user from the All Users folder, although you could get the user back using the New User functionality.  

To remove a user from a folder:

  1. In the left pane, select the folder to display the user in the right pane.

  2. In the right pane, right-click on the user you want to remove. Select Delete Item. A confirmation message appears, reminding you that you cannot undo a delete.

  3. Click Yes to continue removing the user.
