Spector 360 logs all typed keystrokes, including hidden characters and keystroke combinations. Spector 360 not only captures standard alphanumeric keystrokes, but also records "hidden" characters and keystroke combinations, such as the Shift and Ctrl key, as well as ”r;true” keystrokes that may otherwise appear differently on screen (such as an asterisk * appearing for password characters).
Spector 360 provides a record of what was typed, when, where and by whom.

The Client Recorder captures all keystrokes. If the Client is set to capture character information in addition to keystrokes, the Character view of keystrokes is available on the Events window. The Client does not capture mouse activity. |
To view Keystroke Events:
Open an Events window for Keystroke Activity (or select the Keystrokes Typed tab on a User Events window) and click Load Events to view the event records. The following fields are recorded for each Keystroke Event. You can print and export this data for any user.
Start Time: Time at which the keystroke event began
Computer: Name of computer where recorded keystrokes occurred
User: Name of user logged in who performed the keystrokes (column hidden by default)
Program: Program where keystrokes were entered (column hidden by default)
Program Instance: Time the program instance was launched
Window ID: Identifies the window of the application on the network
Keystrokes: Count of actual keystrokes (to see actual keystrokes in the Event Contents, open the View menu and select Show Keystrokes)
Formatted Keystrokes: Count of visible keystrokes (shown in the Event Contents by default)
Window Caption: Title bar of current window

If a Program Instance runs over the date boundary (for example, the program is left running overnight so that the instance spans Tues. and Wed.), and the Program Events Data Grouping places the Program Instance below the dates (Tues. and Wed.), then the Dashboard will count the Program Instance for each date, even though there was really only one instance. This allows the Program Instance to appear properly below Tues. and Wed. in the data grouping. The count of Program Instances shows up in Quick View charts. |
To navigate in the events:
In the events grid click any field to select a record and then scroll up or down through the records. You can also use the "Play" buttons at the bottom of the grid to move through records.
To sort the records by any field:
Click any field column header (e.g., Window Caption) to list the records A-Z (or in numerical sequence) by that field. Hold down the Shift key and click on column headings to sort by multiple fields (e.g., Window Caption and Keystrokes).
To select how many records are shown:
Use the tree in the upper-left Navigate pane to select a higher (more records) or lower (fewer records) branch in the Event Group. Click Load Events to see the records for the branch in the Events pane. This allows you to adjust the data for report and export purposes.
To view a Screen Snapshot of the event:
Select the recording in the Events pane and click View Screen Snapshots. Or, right-click in the Events grid on a record and select Go to View Event Snapshots.
To view the keystrokes:
Select (click on) a record in the Events grid to display the text content of keystrokes in the lower pane. Use tabs and buttons to change the view of the keystrokes. See Keystroke Viewing Options for complete information.
