Spector 360 records every program a user opens and the time spent in program activity or inactivity. Using Dashboard, you can easily track how often a program is used and how much activity actually takes place when it is open. Find out who is working the hardest using productivity programs and who is goofing off using games or chat.
To view Program Event Details:
Open an Events window for Program Activity and click Load Events to view recording details. The following fields are recorded for each event. You can print and export this data for any user.
Start Time: when program was started
Computer: Name of the computer where the recording occurred
User logged into computer (column hidden by default)
Program being used
Program Instance: The time the program was started and a Windows-assigned number for the program launch
Active Time: time mouse and keyboard activity was occurring in the program
Focus time: time the program window had front focus on the user's desktop
Total Time: amount of time the program was open
Window Caption: Window title, usually includes document title and/or program title

If a Program Instance runs over the date boundary (for example, the program is left running overnight so that the instance spans Tues. and Wed.), and the Program Events Data Grouping places the Program Instance below the dates (Tues. and Wed.), then the Dashboard will count the Program Instance for each date, even though there was really only one instance. This allows the Program Instance to appear properly below Tues. and Wed. in the data grouping. The count of Program Instances shows up in Quick View charts. |
To sort the records by any field:
Click any field column header to order records. For example, clicking Focus Time would list the records by amount of focus time spent on a program. Hold down the Shift key and click on column headings to sort by multiple fields (e.g., Focus Time and Window Caption).
To select how many records are shown:
Use the tree in the upper-left Navigate pane to select a higher (more records) or lower (fewer records) branch in the Event Group. Click Load Events to see the records for the group branch in the Events pane. This allows you to adjust the data for report and export purposes.
To view a Screen Snapshot of an event:
Click the View Screen Snapshot button or right-click in the Events grid on a record and select Event Snapshot.
