Hide Data Files This will set the Windows Hidden file attributes for data files, where all recorded information is stored. Setting the hidden file attribute hides them from view in MS Explorer.
Use Enhanced Security There are some products being sold that attempt to detect the presence of Spector on a computer. Spector will foil the execution of these programs and cause them to perform an error. You will want to clear this option if you want these programs to run successfully.
Note:
Be aware that many of these products being sold will become aware that
SpectorSoft has provided the means to block the execution of their products.
They will
then endeavor to change their products to thwart detection. SpectorSoft
periodically updates its signature files to keep up with these ever changing
products.
Remove References from Internet Explorer This option is meaningless for most Spector CNE installations where the Viewer is not installed as part of the Spector Client installation. The SpectorSoft Web site would not be visited on the Client computer, so there would be no history or cookies to rouse the attention of the Client computer user. However, this default option eliminates the following information from your Internet Explorer Web Browser:
SpectorSoft Web Cache
SpectorSoft Cookies
SpectorSoft Addresses in the Address Bar
SpectorSoft History
The removal happens both upon the installation of Spector and any time you close the program by clicking on the Save or Cancel buttons.
The purpose of this feature is to completely eliminate any evidence of having visited any of SpectorSoft’s Web sites. This becomes an extra "stealth" measure to avoid detection of Spector. For additional detailed information, click here.
Allow Limited Users Unlimited Access If this option is selected, Windows users that do NOT have administrator privileges will be able to use the Hotkeys to bring up the Spector Viewer interface. By default, non-administrator users cannot gain access to the user interface to view recorded information.
Enable Automatic Error Transmissions Spector will trap internal program errors and store them in a log file. If this option is enabled, this information will be automatically transmitted to SpectorSoft so that its engineering staff may find the cause of the errors. This program error information can be manually transmitted to the SpectorSoft engineering staff by using the Help> About> Support menu item.
Log File Level Default level is zero (0), which will keep a reduced amount of information in the Spector log file. It may be necessary to gather more information about the internal operation of Spector if there is a problem. The Spector technical support department may ask you to increase this log file level to gather more information to help with identifying a problem.
Network Initialization Delay Increases the seconds to delay the initialization of Spector modules used to capture Internet information. This is used when some virus detection and other software reside on the same computer as Spector and the programs conflict.
