Keystrokes
Spector Client (Client) is configured to record Keystroke events by enabling capture within the Keystrokes configuration tab. The Keystrokes configuration tab can be found when:
Pre-configuring the Client installation file using the Spector CNE Deployment Utility

Capture Keystrokes
The Client will record all keystrokes typed on a monitored computer. This includes non-displayable or hidden keystrokes such as the Shift, Alt, or Ctrl keys. The Client will record all keystrokes together, for each separate window in which they are typed.
For each program window, the Client will record:
All keystrokes typed in that window
The title of the program window
The name of the Windows program
The date and time the keystrokes are recorded
The Windows user that was logged on when keystrokes were typed
To enable capture of keystrokes on a computers, select Capture Keystrokes to put a checkmark in the option box. To disable Keystrokes recording, clear the checkbox from the Capture Keystrokes box.
Keystrokes File
When Keystroke events are recorded on a computer, the Client stores them in a data file that resides in the Data File Folder. If the Client is configured to upload recorded events to the Data Vault, this information will be frequently moved from the Keystrokes data file into the Data Vault. If the Client is configured to keep the recorded events on the computer, or the Data Vault is unavailable for uploading of events, then the size of the Keystroke data file is a consideration. In general, the size of the Keystroke data file is not much concern because a very large number of keystrokes can be recorded in a relatively small data file size.
The following settings control the amount of storage space needed on the computer's hard drive to record Keystroke events:
Delete Data After … Days
Select the number of days that the Client should keep recorded Keystroke events on the computer. If Keystrokes have been recorded before this number of days, then the Keystroke events will be deleted. For example, if this setting is for ten days and today is August 11, the Client would keep all Keystroke events recorded on August 1 and later. This setting is not a concern if the Client is configured to move data to the Data Vault. They would be moved frequently and not reside for ten days on the computer.
The Default number of days is 10.
Maximum Data Size … Megabytes
Select the maximum number of megabytes that the Keystroke data file should grow. When the Keystroke data file has reached this size, the oldest keystrokes typed will be removed to allow for the recording of new keystrokes and keep the Keystroke data file under the maximum size. This setting should not be a concern if the Client is configured to upload recorded events to the Data Vault, because the maximum data file size could not be reached before the events are uploaded to the Data Vault (approximately every 5 minutes). If the Client is NOT uploading recorded events to the Data Vault, this setting should still not be a concern unless the computer's user is creating very large Keystroke data over many days
The default Keystrokes Data File size is 1 megabyte.
