Manual Uninstall of Spector Client

Once the Spector Client (Client) software has been installed on a computer, it can be remotely uninstalled by using the Control Center. There are two methods of remotely uninstalling the Client software from a computer.

Method 1:

Select the computer from the Manage Computers view
Right click and select Uninstall Spector… This is the suggested method for uninstalling the Client software from a computer

If the computer is being managed by the Control Center in non-integrated mode, then the Manage Computers view will be unable to provide remote administration capabilities necessary to perform the remote uninstall of the Client

Method 2:

Provided the Control Center is able to communicate with the Client on the network, an uninstall of the Spector Client can be done by:

Selecting the computer from the Configure Computers view
Right click and select All Tasks>Uninstall

This method of uninstall should also be used if you:

Were unable to remotely install the Client with the Control Center
Manually ran the install file on the computer to complete the install of the Client

It is possible that both of the uninstall methods described above may be unavailable for remotely uninstalling the Spector Client from a network computer. This could be because:

The Control Center has been uninstalled from the network
The Client computer is no longer connected to the network
Network changes have made the Control Center unable to communicate with the Client

In this situation, it is possible to manually uninstall the Spector Client from a network computer on which it is installed, by using the spuninst.exe program that resides in the Spector CNE program folder on the Control Center computer. The default Spector CNE program folder is c:\Program Files\SpectorSoft\Spector CNE\spuninst.exe.

Copy this program to a floppy diskette or CD, or run it from a shared folder on the network. The program must be run from the computer on which you want to uninstall the Client. It requires that the serial number parameter is specified and may require that the password parameter is specified.

The format of the uninstall utility is: Spuninst.exe /s<serial number> /p<password>

/s Serial number of Spector CNE used to install Client, this is REQUIRED

/p Password configured for the Client install (REQUIRED if a password was configured)
