Monitor Computers View

This view is used to access captured Spector Client (Client) data on the monitored computer. Selecting Monitor Computers from the tree list in the Scope window displays this view in the Results window. The content of this view is determined by the following:
All computers displayed within the Manage Computers view that have a Client installed
All computers that have an install or uninstall pending will be displayed in Monitor Computers view
If View All Computers in Monitor Computers view is enabled, all computers displayed in the Manage Computers view are also display in the Monitor Computers view
By selecting Monitor Computers in the Scope window and clicking on the right mouse button, the Control Center displays a pop-up menu. All items in this list are standard Microsoft Management Console functions except for All Tasks.
Selecting All Tasks displays a submenu, which provides access to the following functions:
Show Groups Only
Show Group Computers
Show All Computers
Find Client
Please refer to the Manage Computers View section for more information on these menu items.
The functionality of the Control Center associated with monitoring a Client monitored computer is enabled in this view. By selecting any computer in the list and clicking on the right mouse button, the Control Center displays a pop-up menu.
The initial menu displayed consists for the following items:
View Recordings
All Tasks
Refresh
Properties
Refresh simply refreshes and re-displays the data for the selected computer.
Selecting Properties will display a tabbed dialog providing some general information (related to monitoring) about the selected computer.
Selecting All Tasks displays a continuing menu providing access to the following tasks:
View Recordings
Start Spector
Stop Spector
View Log File
Restart Client
Find Client
The icon next to the computer name in the Results window provides a visual clue as to whether or not you will be able to perform the tasks in this menu.
If the Control Center
is able to communicate properly with the computer, a colored monitor camera
icon
appears next to the computer name for that computer
If the Control Center
is unable to properly communicate with the titles, a grayed out computer
icon
is displayed
The status of the Client installation activity is displayed in the Monitor Computers view
Under the State column, one of the following states will be displayed:
Recording If the Client is actively recording while a user is logged on to the computer, Recording will be displayed
Disabled If a user is logged on to the computer and the Client is not recording, Disabled will be displayed.
Log Off If no user is logged on to the computer (and thus, the Client is not recording), Log Off will be displayed
Blank (empty) If the Control Center cannot talk to the Client on the computer, no text will be displayed under the State column
View Recordings
Selecting View Recordings starts the Spector Viewer (Viewer). Double-clicking on any computer within the Monitor Computers view will function identically to the selecting of View Recordings from the menu.
The Control Center notifies the Viewer of the computer selected in the Results window.
The Viewer requests the location of the Client's data store for the monitored computer and, if found, it loads the data for viewing
If the data store cannot be located in the folder provided by the computer or in the Data Vault, the Viewer displays a folder browse dialog box enabling you to manually select a new data store location
The Client's properties on the computer can be accessed and modified from within the Viewer, just as they can from selecting Configure Computer in the Configure Computers view. While in the Viewer, selecting Settings on the toolbar displays the settings property page for all the Client settings on the computer. Start/Stop Recording
The computer's installation of Client can be started and stopped remotely by selecting these menu items. These menu items execute the same functionality as Start and Stop in the Configure Computers view.

View Log File
Sometimes it is necessary to view the Client's log file to solve problems or to relay information to technical support. You can view the Client's log file remotely by selecting this menu item (provided that the proper network file system access is available to the computer).
